Small geyser in Norris Hotsprings. I was really glad we did not miss this area. There are great interpretive signs and a trail that allows you to walk throughout the hydrothermal area.

Excelsior Geyser Crater along the Firehole River. The blues in this pool were intense. Combined with the steam it made this an enchanting view - waiting for the color.

There are endless formations resulting from the deposition of minerals in the water that flows out. I love the textures and light. This one is adjacent to the Grand Prismatic Spring

The light and steam enhance the intense colors of the thermophyliic pigmented cyano-bacteria form these beautiful microbial mats. This is perhaps one of the most amazing places I have ever been - color, light, and sulfurous steam.

We stopped to look for bears along the Lewis River in the south part of the park. No animals were seen in spite of earlier sightings and a lot of squinting. However, the huckleberry bushes provided an intense foreground to the riparian area of the river

As the water moves around underground, it changes location where it comes to the surface. Sometimes, it flows out over forested areas. Here the new spring has deposited minerals around a tree which is left in this dramatic pose. (Mammoth Hotsprings)
